‘I Hate Luv Stories’ Success Due to Chemistry
Punit Malhotra’s debut film, ‘I Hate Luv Stories,’ is a romantic-comedy and stars two hot and young Bollywood stars, Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor. The film was released this week and has received a fantastic reaction.
It’s not surprising that Karan Johar is so invested in the movie, because Punit is a product of his very own production company. And apparently the superstar producer was overwhelmed with support for the film as he shared, “Thanks for all the super feedback on IHLS!!! Thank you people….luv is in the air!!”
Karan Johar announced his absolute pleasure with the film shortly after tweeting to his fans a very positive review for it, “We love luv stories!!!!”
The film sparks a romance between the two stars, Imran and Sonam, which seems to flourish on the big screen and leads many to believe that perhaps the romance continues off-screen. The two stars are very critical of the other constantly tease each other, and when it comes to the media they seem to be each other’s favorite subject to talk about. I think that’s called flirting!
Congratulations to all those involved in successfully making a bearable romantic comedy and we will be looking forward to much more quality work from Mr. Malhotra.
Akshay Kumar Wants Your Help!!!
As we mentioned, actor Akshay Kumar, has a movie release coming up in the near future for the film, ‘Khatta Meetha’, a satirical comedy. Akshay recently expressed his comfort and satisfaction with his success and career in Bollywood, and has reached out for some feedback from his fans.
“Here’s the first look poster of my next film,Khatta Meetha. [I] Would love to know what you guys think of it,” the actor tweeted. So in an attempt to not disappoint Akshay… here’s what I think.
The poster is pretty boring and a bit self-indulgent. It really does not spark interest, and shows not relation to satire or comedy in any sense of either word. It’s just an overall eye-sore, but on a positive note at least it will lower the expectations for the movie!
I can be a bit picky sometimes, but let’s hear what everyone else thinks!!! Leave a comment and let us know.
Bollywood’s ‘Power Couple’ is Making Their Comeback
It seems that every now and then people can get caught up in the rumored and premature relationships that develop between the stars of Bollywood. However, one couple has taken the success that they have achieved separately, and were able to maintain not only a healthy love life but a healthy professional relationship as well.
Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan have defied the curses of celebrity relationships, and have made their love work on and off screen. ‘Ravaan’, which stars both Abhishek and Aishwarya, will be released on June 18 and showcases the chemistry that the couple can produce on film.
It seems that the two have fallen into a comfortable pattern with one another, and the two will be hoping that their success continues. Though the movie’s description does not mention a love between the couple’s characters, there is always the unforeseen twists and turns that may shift the story line of a movie in that direction. Guess we’ll just have to see in a couple of short weeks.
Pakistani Beauty to Star in Imtiaz Ali’s Next Film
Imtiaz Ali has announced that his next film, ‘Rockstar‘, will star Bollywood dream-boat Ranbir Kapoor, however, it was in question as to who will play opposite of Ranbir in the film.
Many of Bollywood’s favorite leading ladies wanted the part and made their interest known to Imtiaz, but to their dismay the filmmaker had already made up his mind. After getting the director’s attention from her place in a swimsuit calendar, model/actress Nargis Fakhri landed the highly desired role.
Nargis is half Pakistani and half Czech, and Imtiaz claims that her look is perfect for the role and she will be the one to take place along side Ranbir. This isn’t the first time Imtiaz has introduced a foreign beauty as one of his leading ladies. In ‘Love Aj Kal’ the director use Brazilian actress Giselle Monteiro, and that seemed to work out well.
It should be interesting and exciting to see how well Nargis does. The actress will no doubt be under a lot of scrutiny, but with a good director like Imtiaz and a co-star like Ranbir it will be difficult for her to fail.
Mani Ratnam to receive the Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory to the Filmmaker Award 2010 at the Venice Film Festival
67th Venice International Film Festival
Indian director Mani Ratnam
To receive the Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory to the Filmmaker Award 2010
[Cannes] In 2010, Jaeger-LeCoultre celebrates its six years of partnership with the Venice International Film Festival.
Accepting the proposal made by the Director of the Venice Film Festival Marco Mueller, the Swiss Manufacturer is proud to be partner of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory to the Filmmaker Award, which this year is to honour the work of the great Indian director Mani Ratnam.
In recent years, the award has honoured other major world filmmakers: Takeshi Kitano, Abbas Kiarostami, Agn賠Varda, and Sylvester Stallone.
The Venice Film Festival Director Marco Mueller explains the choice as follows:
“Mani Ratnam used to make movies only in his native tongue, Tamil, but has been one of a handful of filmmakers to successfully handle the transition to the All-India market. One of the great innovators in contemporary Indian cinema, he helped introduce the auteur concept to contemporary Bollywood. His movies display precision and poise, and have always been removed from the bombast and bluster of mass-produced regional cinema. The lavish musical numbers in his films, some of the best-tailored in Mumbai and Madras in recent years, have influenced the style of many others (as well as the design of commercials and music videos). Ratnam’s most celebrated films have become part of the cinematic imagination of the sub-continent.”
On the occasion of the award ceremony, the Mostra will present the festival premiere of Mani Ratnam’s much-anticipated forthcoming film Ravaan, attended by the director and by the Indian movie super stars Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan, Vikram, and A.R. Rahman. RAAVAN is produced in association with Reliance Big Pictures and distributed internationally by Reliance Big Pictures and IM Global.
Ravaan will enchant audiences with its stirring drama and entrancing musical sequences, says Marco Mueller. We are proud to be hosting the festival premiere of this wonderful film, which will be presented at the 2010 Mostra in both the Hindi and the Tamil version.
Enlivened by the music composed by the two-time Academy Award winner A. R. Rahman, popularly known as the man who has redefined contemporary Indian music (and hailed by Time Magazine as the Mozart of Madras), Ravaan fuses drama, action, love story, and musical. The film tells the adventurous story of a bandit leader who kidnaps the wife of the policeman who killed his sister, taking her through a journey during which once again the everlasting, epic battle between good and bad takes place, and stars Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Vikram.
As in previous editions, together with the award the director will be presented with a Reverso Jaeger-LeCoultre watch, a one-of-a-kind model with a commemorative engraving.

‘Kites’ Flies High in the Box Office
It has been a weekend that released some fantastic movies, and one that has also followed closely behind the biggest film festival in the industry. So no wonder that everyone in India are buzzing about the success of Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori’s flick, ‘Kites’.
So despite the controversies surrounding Barbara and her appetite to bare it all on the big screen, and not to mention the rumors about a lack of chemistry between the two lead stars. It seems the movie’s hype has overcome the critics and produced numbers that placed them amongst the top 10 in box office rankings.
The weekend featured huge Hollywood films such as ‘Iron Man 2,’ which stars Robert Downey Jr., and ‘Robin Hood,’ featuring Russell Crowe. It was definitely a blockbuster weekend and Bollywood was represented amongst the best.
I admit that after early reviews the success of Anurag Basu’s, ‘Kites’ seemed highly unlikely, but the numbers prove that the movie is worth the cost of a ticket. Hopefully ‘Kites’ will prevail in the box office, and succeed for the Bollywood community.
Sonam and Anil Kapoor Together on Screen
It seems as though the Kapoor family has finally given in; at one time Anil and Sonam Kapoor refused to be paired on screen together, but that is no longer the case.
The father-daughter combination have been offered plenty of roles; however, only Aditya Chopra’s film has appealed to the duo. Apparently the other roles just didn’t seem right for the Kapoors, “ this is the first time that I’ve liked something which has been offered to both of us,” explained Anil.
It has yet to be determined if the two will be playing father and daughter on screen, however, it will be interesting to see the kind of dynamic the two will have. Working with family always has it’s potential for disaster, and so can sharing the spotlight with those close to you. We’ll see if Sonam can surpass her father.
Already Hate ‘I Hate Luv Stories’?
So I know the movie has not been officially released, but is anyone else getting the sense of romantic-comedy overload. ‘I Hate Luv Stories’ stars Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor, and is about the two being polar opposites who are forced the interact with each other due to work.
The characters that Imran and Sonam portray are described as having different views concerning their feelings towards love stories. And because they are forced to work together they start to build a somewhat humorous love story themselves.
Unfortunately, it seems that Karan Johar has again made a movie that seems completely unoriginal. After a highly disappointing ‘My Name Is Khan’, it seems as though Karan has taken the easy road of a romantic-comedy. However, ‘I Hate Luv Stories’ sounds dangerously close to Hollywood’s ‘The Ugly Truth’, which stars Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl.
The two story lines seem extremely close on paper, but hopefully Karan has a trick or two up his sleeve. Because the last thing the film industry needs is another corny romantic-comedy, or a movie that so closely resembles something previously released.
‘Kites’ Lacks Promised Chemistry
For the last few months; all the hype in the Bollywood film scene has been about the latest blockbuster, ‘Kites‘. The movie promotes two huge stars, Barbara Mori and Hrithik Roshan, from the industry, and the promoters praised the chemistry shown on stage between those stars. However, some of the latest reviews regarding the movie have shown major disappointment.
Aside from ‘Housefull‘, ‘Kites‘ was the most highly anticipated movie of 2010, and it seems that the movie is not going to live up to the hype. Despite having two of the sexiest stars in Bollywood ’Kites’ lacks a believable relationship between them, and that is a huge shame because even the movie’s famous picture screamed with chemistry. Where did it all go?
Barbara is becoming a very hot commodity in the Bollywood film industry and is slowly working her way into the Hollywood scene as well. Barbara is not shy about showing off all that she has, and the audience couldn’t ask for more when it comes to beauty. Hrithik is a Bollywood stud! He has been the up and comer for the male leads in Bollywood, and looks to be after SRK’s throne.
However, as we have all seen in the sports world; you can purchase and put together a all-star line-up, but you cannot by results. Other complaints about the movie included that it was extremely predictable, which should be a complaint of just about every movie in the film industry as of late. Barbara and Hrithik are going to bounce back from this disaster, and in an age of die-hard fans they may not be effected by the negative reviews at all.
Aishwarya Rai is Going Hollywood Again!
It seems as though Aishwarya Rai is headed overseas again for another Hollywood film. The Bollywood actress is currently attending the Cannes Film Festival and rubbing elbows with some of the biggest names in the film industry, and apparently it is working! Reports state that the leading lady of Bollywood will be working side by side with Hollywood hunk, Russell Crowe.
Crowe has starred in his share of Hollywood blockbusters such as: ‘Gladiator,’ ‘Master and Comandor,” and the new ‘Robin Hood’ film, and those are just the action style films. This means the the Bollywood beauty will be amongst good company. And it is important to remember that Aishwarya is no rookie in Hollywood either, though I would argue that she has never been paired with a name as big as Russell.
It is always exciting to see stars from differnt regions mix it up in films together, and if the rumors are true, this film will definately be one worth seeing.
SHAH RUKH KHAN VERSUS FARAH KHAN- DOSTI TURNS TO DUSHMANI

Bollywood’s best jodi Turned Into Ash Last Year… I am not talking about Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan but actually the dynamic duo Farah Khan and Shah Rukh Khan who as everyone knows parted ways due to creative differences. A nice way to say, yeah not interested in working with you because I am better than you.
The belief that nothing remains the same should make sense to Bollywood. One of the thickest bonds in Bollywood with blockbuster films like Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om, Shahrukh Khan and Farah Khan have recently gone down the drain. What was the reason behind this infamous Khan split?
Our sources found the reason behind the split of this extraordinary duo. It was known that Farah was keen on casting Shah Rukh in Tees Maar Khan but because Shahrukh could not find time and Farah could not afford to wait forever and finally decided to cast Akshay in the film. It seems this did not go down too well with SRK and Farah had to bear the repercussions.
Farah went to SRK to make him aware of her interest in remaking the old blockbuster Satte Pe Satta which failed to interest SRK. After hearing Farah for a while, SRK finally said a firm ‘no’ and showcased his disinterest in the film. Farah had already approached Raj Sippy’s son Mintoo to buy the copyrights of the film and he willingly accepted the proposal. Shahrukh reasoned saying that he did not want to do a remake of Mr. Bachchan’s film to which Farah retaliated saying that he had done the remake of Don. Shahrukh did not really like this reaction and the conversation ended calmly with Farah leaving his company.
King Khan has also refused to do Shirish Kunder’s film and showed disinterest in ‘The Zoya Factor’ based on a novel by Anuj Chauhan which Shirish was suppose to direct for his production house. This news will definitely be disappointing for the audiences who loved watching the dynamic duo together!
Lets just say that Shah Rukh Khan may be have also got jealous that Farah Khan found a man with Shirish and SRK no longer had his bestie!
Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Kites’ Hits 200 International Theaters
The newest Bollywood release, ‘Kites’, has been said to be the biggest film in recent Bollywood history. The movie stars Hollywood hunk, Hrithik Roshan, and has the gorgeous Barbara Mori (Mexican actress) as his co-star in the film.
The big news about the movie, doesn’t have to do with the success it has reached in the Indian film industry, but instead the focus is on how well the film is doing in other cultural markets. As of today the film is reaching over 200 theaters not in India, but in the United States and Canada, and the responses to the film are highly favorable.
Along with its release in North America, the film has already been accepted for a Hollywood remake, and the director to be in charge of remaking the film will be the same man who brought ‘Rush Hour’ and ‘X-men 3′ to the big screen, Brett Ratner. ‘Kites‘ is being regarded as one of the most successful Bollywood films of this generation, and may prove to be one of the greatest of all time!
