Bollywood filmmakers, Anurag Basu and Imtiaz Ali, have always been pretty close pals, and have competed in the same industry in relative harmony over the past few years. However, it now seems that Anurag has become extremely irritated with his colleague and it’s all over actor Ranbir Kapoor.

Ranbir has been awaiting to work with the talented director Imtiaz, however, Imtiaz has been struggling with picking the rest of the cast for his movie with Ranbir, ‘Rockstar’. The problem happens to be that Anurag is also waiting to work with Ranbir, but made an agreement to wait until after Imtiaz finishes his film. However, now Anurag must wait longer than anticipated because Imtiaz has delayed the shooting of his film for so long.

Anurag is anxiously waiting to get back behind the camera in order to get the bad taste his latest flop, ‘Kites’, has produced in his mouth, and therefore he continues to grow annoyed with Imtiaz due to the situation with his leading actor.

It has been a weekend that released some fantastic movies, and one that has also followed closely behind the biggest film festival in the industry. So no wonder that everyone in India are buzzing about the success of Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori’s flick, ‘Kites’.

So despite the controversies surrounding Barbara and her appetite to bare it all on the big screen, and not to mention the rumors about a lack of chemistry between the two lead stars. It seems the movie’s hype has overcome the critics and produced numbers that placed them amongst the top 10 in box office rankings.

The weekend featured huge Hollywood films such as ‘Iron Man 2,’ which stars Robert Downey Jr., and ‘Robin Hood,’ featuring Russell Crowe. It was definitely a blockbuster weekend and Bollywood was represented amongst the best.

I admit that after early reviews the success of Anurag Basu’s, ‘Kites’ seemed highly unlikely, but the numbers prove that the movie is worth the cost of a ticket. Hopefully ‘Kites’ will prevail in the box office, and succeed for the Bollywood community.

Anurag Basu has recently become fascinated with the classical Indian beautyMadhubala, and has decided to make the actress’ affair with a famous filmmaker the center of her next film.So there is no wonder that Basu has chosen one of the most stunning Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif to portray the iconic figure in the film.

Katrina was originally supposed to star in a different Basu film, along side Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, however the actress was dissatisfied with sharing the lead role with another leading lady and decided to quit the film.

Shortly after leaving that role, Basu had slotted Katrina into the role or Madhubala.

“Katrina is someone I am very, very fond of…for her looks, talent and nature. I am definitely working with her, if not in Silence, then in my next film,” Basu claimed.

Katrina Kaif has now walked away from her role in Anurag Basu’s film “Khamoshi,” after learning that Priyanka Chopra was joining the cast as a second leading lady.

For weeks we’ve been talking about the relationship brewing between Katrina and her leading male co-star Ranbir Kapoor, however not even Ranbir was going to be enough to convince Katrina to share the spotlight.

Katrina hasn’t completely closed the door on bringing another lady into the picture, but as for now she’d rather be solo. “I am not saying I won`t do films with other leading ladies, but for now, I`m happy in the space I am. Why should I unnecessarily rock the boat?”

It will be interesting to see who, if anyone, Basu gets to replace Katrina in the film. And how this will effect the on-screen chemistry between Priyanka and Ranbir!

Kareena Kapoor Loses Dream Role Because of Ranbir

Kareena Kapoor who has become every directors dream come true had to sacrifice the role of a lifetime because of Bollywoods newest hotty, none other then cousin Ranbir Kapoor. The dream role was for UTV’s upcoming biopic film on Kishore Kumar in which Kareena was all set to play the classic Madhubala.

The role of the male lead however went through quite a few ups and downs. The role of the legendary singer-actor-filmmaker was first offered to Aamir Khan a few years back who declined. It was then handed to Shahrukh Khan and unfortunately things didn’t work out with King Khan either. Finally, UTV and director Anurag Basu approached Ranbir for the role who obviously accepted with arms wide open.

Once Kareena found out that she was going to be romantically paired with her cousin, she of course rejected the offer. Although Ranbir is smiling from ear to ear, Bebo darling isn’t very amused. We’re sure this incident will create some turmoil between the two Kapoors, but for now the bigger question remains…who will play the beautiful Madhubala? Katrina, Priyanka, or Deepika?? Haha we’re certain Ranbir’s smile just got a little bigger.

Kite’s Trailer

This international project has been cursed… from all the post production work to all the madness involved getting this film edited and completed on time. This movie has been delayed, Rakesh Roshan didn’t have the balls to run it against Avatar… What a great decision his film would have largely been ignored due to James Cameron’s masterpiece.

Also problems while filming has brought this film in the spotlight including Hrithik Roshan’s alleged extramartial affair with co-star Barbara Mori. Production was halted for a week while Hrithik had to fly back to Mumbai to apologize to his wife Suzzanne Roshan and ask for forgiveness. Poor guy who would blame him all alone in Mexico with a beauty like that.

More drama has followed the film and it seems cursed like American classic Apocalypse Now which was marred with issues during filming and editing which drove half the crew and cast insane. It is a well known fact that Anurag Basu and Hrithik Roshan did not see eye to eye on the creative aspects of the film and editing has taken longer than expected, the Hindi version is still being edited… Brett Ratner was brought in to edit the English/International version. Fox Searchlight is banking a lot on this and My Name Is Khan to bring in big bucks.

Anyways Fox Searchlight has a lot of hopes for this film, and will be releasing the trailer and first look of the film when My Name Is Khan is released today. Let’s see what the initial take is on this movie, the trailer will be released on 1100 screens today…

I think these American studios are trying to find something that will be the next Slumdog Millionaire but as I believe there can only be one. Profit hungry corporations are coming to India in droves to launch and finance the film market but they don’t understand the market, I feel that many of these movies and international releases are going to be loss leaders for American film companies. They don’t understand how the hands of Bollywood work, with the gundas and dons running everything. I think the true niche of Bollywood is to make a 5 million dollar film and make 15-20 million on it. A majority of which is made by NRIs watching the films, and you have two distinct audiences. The NRI audience and the motherland audience (which is broken up by Metros and the outlying states)which are into different types of flavors as well. The only films that dominate both markets are large scale productions that feature either SRK or Aamir Khan. Akshay Kumar tends to be the Indian favorite…

He’s actually playing an old man for his latest commercial on DISH TV! And get this — he’s playing a 75 year old who starts getting all flirty with his wife

The director of the commercial is Anurag Basu and he stated to the press, “The story is very cute. Tanvi Azmi is playing Shah Rukh’s wife. They’re hiding inside their room and are dancing.”

Basu also told everyone that the King Khan, “called his make-up guy and gave him the brief on how to do his look. After the whole get-up was done, he did something very cute.”

Well, I don’t know if SRK would be as hot as he is right now when he’s 75, but it’s worth the fantasy?!
