Hollywood Is Not the Right Fit for Aishwarya Rai
When actress Aishwarya Rai bursts upon the Bollywood scene, the talent, commitment, and beauty automatically set the leading lady apart from the rest. She is constantly being compared to Hollywood female stars, and she even had parts in some Hollywood films like ‘Pink Panther 2′.
However, the actress revealed that she has been approached to be in plenty of other successful Hollywood movies, but had declined the roles that were being offered to her. “It wasn`t about an attitude I had, or any inverted ideas about working overseas, it was simply about scheduling. I just didn`t have the time,” explained Aishwarya. Although the actress’ loyalty to the Bollywood fans is admirable, it is hard to believe that she made the right choices.
The actress claimed that Hollywood superstars such as Will Smith and Michael Douglas personally approached her for roles in their films, and that she had also refused to do the blockbuster ‘Troy’ alongside Hollywood hunk, Brad Pitt. The actress blamed her uneasiness with the sex-scenes in ’Troy’, which is understandable, but to pass up a heart-wrenching movie like ‘Seven Pounds’ should definitely be considered a bad decision.
Aishwarya Rai on Her Experience Making ‘Raavan’
Bollywood actress, Aishwarya Rai, is one of the most most beautiful ladies in the industry today. Even with younger and sexy actresses breaking into the Bollywood film scene, Aishwarya has kept her commitment to working hard and remains one of top leading ladies.
Aishwarya was recently interviewed and during which she was asked about her newest movie, ‘Ravaan’, which also stars the actress’ famous husband, Abhishek Bachchan. “Right now, I think ‘Raavan’ has been the most challenging of all the roles I’ve done in the past,” Aishwarya explains.
Although the actress says that working with her husband is always a pleasure and she admires his professionalism as well as his desire to have a good time with those around him. When asked about her husband and his connection with his father, the ever popular Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya says, “That’s what’s so wonderful about him. Right from the beginning, he did not use that to any kind of advantage. He always says ‘Of course I’m proud to be his son’. You know, he respects it, he takes pride in it.”
Aishwarya promises the movie to be a big success and includes the fact that the work her husband has been doing lately has been all the right choices and she is happy to be a part of that!
Bollywood’s ‘Power Couple’ is Making Their Comeback
It seems that every now and then people can get caught up in the rumored and premature relationships that develop between the stars of Bollywood. However, one couple has taken the success that they have achieved separately, and were able to maintain not only a healthy love life but a healthy professional relationship as well.
Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan have defied the curses of celebrity relationships, and have made their love work on and off screen. ‘Ravaan’, which stars both Abhishek and Aishwarya, will be released on June 18 and showcases the chemistry that the couple can produce on film.
It seems that the two have fallen into a comfortable pattern with one another, and the two will be hoping that their success continues. Though the movie’s description does not mention a love between the couple’s characters, there is always the unforeseen twists and turns that may shift the story line of a movie in that direction. Guess we’ll just have to see in a couple of short weeks.
Mani Ratnam to receive the Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory to the Filmmaker Award 2010 at the Venice Film Festival
67th Venice International Film Festival
Indian director Mani Ratnam
To receive the Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory to the Filmmaker Award 2010
[Cannes] In 2010, Jaeger-LeCoultre celebrates its six years of partnership with the Venice International Film Festival.
Accepting the proposal made by the Director of the Venice Film Festival Marco Mueller, the Swiss Manufacturer is proud to be partner of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory to the Filmmaker Award, which this year is to honour the work of the great Indian director Mani Ratnam.
In recent years, the award has honoured other major world filmmakers: Takeshi Kitano, Abbas Kiarostami, Agn賠Varda, and Sylvester Stallone.
The Venice Film Festival Director Marco Mueller explains the choice as follows:
“Mani Ratnam used to make movies only in his native tongue, Tamil, but has been one of a handful of filmmakers to successfully handle the transition to the All-India market. One of the great innovators in contemporary Indian cinema, he helped introduce the auteur concept to contemporary Bollywood. His movies display precision and poise, and have always been removed from the bombast and bluster of mass-produced regional cinema. The lavish musical numbers in his films, some of the best-tailored in Mumbai and Madras in recent years, have influenced the style of many others (as well as the design of commercials and music videos). Ratnam’s most celebrated films have become part of the cinematic imagination of the sub-continent.”
On the occasion of the award ceremony, the Mostra will present the festival premiere of Mani Ratnam’s much-anticipated forthcoming film Ravaan, attended by the director and by the Indian movie super stars Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan, Vikram, and A.R. Rahman. RAAVAN is produced in association with Reliance Big Pictures and distributed internationally by Reliance Big Pictures and IM Global.
Ravaan will enchant audiences with its stirring drama and entrancing musical sequences, says Marco Mueller. We are proud to be hosting the festival premiere of this wonderful film, which will be presented at the 2010 Mostra in both the Hindi and the Tamil version.
Enlivened by the music composed by the two-time Academy Award winner A. R. Rahman, popularly known as the man who has redefined contemporary Indian music (and hailed by Time Magazine as the Mozart of Madras), Ravaan fuses drama, action, love story, and musical. The film tells the adventurous story of a bandit leader who kidnaps the wife of the policeman who killed his sister, taking her through a journey during which once again the everlasting, epic battle between good and bad takes place, and stars Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Vikram.
As in previous editions, together with the award the director will be presented with a Reverso Jaeger-LeCoultre watch, a one-of-a-kind model with a commemorative engraving.

Deepika Padukone Uses Indian Attire to Gain Attention at Cannes
During a festival that so many superstars in the movie industry attend like Cannes, it is important to stand out amongst the crowd. On the opening day Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai stole the spotlight, but that is because Deepika Padukone has not yet arrived.
Apparently the actress caught the attention of the festival by sporting a ethnic saree, and has since then been the talk of the event. The actress has gone to Cannes in order to provide some steady competition to the usual Bollywood actress icon Aishwarya, and has decided that her traditional attrire best represents her and her country.
“When I started modelling, I promised myself that whenever I attend an international event, I’d wear a saree and not western clothes. I get enough opportunities at home to wear western clothes. When I’m seen at an international event I’d rather be fully Indian,” explained Deepika. Deepika explained that her first visit to Cannes was as a mere spectator, but has now achieved her goal by making her second visit a matter of business. Congratulations Deepika!
Aishwarya Rai is Going Hollywood Again!
It seems as though Aishwarya Rai is headed overseas again for another Hollywood film. The Bollywood actress is currently attending the Cannes Film Festival and rubbing elbows with some of the biggest names in the film industry, and apparently it is working! Reports state that the leading lady of Bollywood will be working side by side with Hollywood hunk, Russell Crowe.
Crowe has starred in his share of Hollywood blockbusters such as: ‘Gladiator,’ ‘Master and Comandor,” and the new ‘Robin Hood’ film, and those are just the action style films. This means the the Bollywood beauty will be amongst good company. And it is important to remember that Aishwarya is no rookie in Hollywood either, though I would argue that she has never been paired with a name as big as Russell.
It is always exciting to see stars from differnt regions mix it up in films together, and if the rumors are true, this film will definately be one worth seeing.
BOLLYWOOD BEAUTIES REPRESENTS AT CANNES
Cannes is host to possibly the greatest film festival in the world, and as such, the festival attracts some of the biggest names in the film industry. Bollywood usually makes their presence felt at the festival and this year was no exception. Of course all the usuals are there, but the beauty of Bollywood decided to show up this year!
Deepika Padukone and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are two of the most beautiful leading ladies in Bollywood at the moment, and also have some of the most experience amongst the rest of the females in the industry. So there are two great representatives for Bollywood to have at Cannes.
The girls got all dolled up and are looking forward to making heads turn with not only their talent, but also their incredible beauty. Aishwarya Rai has made it on time for the opening ceremonies of the festival and boasts about her intentions of seeing the new Ridley Scott movie, ‘Robin Hood’.
Deepika appparently decided to show up a little late being that she just left a few hours ago, but the actress is excited all the same. ”So…all my bags are packed and I’m ready to GOOOOOOO!……CANNES CALLING guys!” the gorgeous actress tweeted. We all know the duo will impress and be great representatives for Bollywood; hopefully the films will do the same.
SONAM KAPOOR PUTS FOOT IN HER MOUTH AGAIN
She is beautiful, she is fairly talented, and she comes with not appropriate censor. Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor is everything the media loves in a celebrity. She has the looks and talent, and has no idea when to shut her mouth. Sonam is going to be co-starring in her next flick, ‘I Hate Luv Stories,’ along side Imran Khan, whose popularity is growing as a Bollywood hunk. Unfortunately, Sonam is not impressed.
The actress claims that Imran does not fit her description of the ideal man and explains, “I personally like guys who have a great sense of humour, are well brought up, and have a good body. I like the concept of tall, dark and handsome,” but she does say the two have good chemistry on the big screen. Until Imran hears about this I’m sure!
The actress never exactly points out what aspects the actor is lacking in, but she does acknowledge that he does not have them all. This is the same young actress who’s comment about Aishwarya Rai being and ‘aunty’ stir up a bit of controversy some time ago. It’s nice to see that she has not become shy about her comment, however, she also has become very intelligent with them either… I guess you just can’t win them all!
Abhishek Bachchan Puts Life on the Line for Film
Abhishek Bachchan has been known to be a pretty dedicated actor, but after the stunt he pulled while shooting for ‘Raavan‘ the actor places himself in a completely different league.
Even after director Mani Ratnam instructed the actor against it, Abhishek jumped off a 90 ft. cliff for a stunt in the movie. Obviously his jump was into water, but reports say that there were rocks that could cause potential danger to the actor. The current of the water is another thing the actor had to worry about, but without hesitation he did what he was paid to do and instructed not to.
Yet again everyone must be impressed with Abhishek, he continues to surprise his fans on and off camera. Although I’m sure many fans (including wife Aishwarya Rai) will be displeased after learning about the stunt; people need to understand that not many actors are daring enough to try something like this, except of course Jackie Chan.
Abhishek Bachchan To Be Comforted By His Wife In Greece
The romance and courtship between the adorable Bollywood couple continues to flood in after Abhishek Bachchan let his followers on twitter know about his trip to Greece, and the love of his life Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan will be joining him!
It has already been reported that the two constantly send updates to each other when they are apart; apparently at every break Abhishek calls his wife to give her a play-by-play on how his day and shoot is going. However, this time the couple will be able to cut out the middle man as Aishwarya makes her husband extremely happy by tagging along.
“Going to greece for shooting. My new movie GAME! Great co-stars. Looking forward to it. Thankfully the mrs. Has agreed to come along,” said one of the actor’s latest tweets. The actor has had an extremely busy schedule, but is set to release about three different movies in 2010. The most promising of those movies being ‘Raavan‘, a movie that also co-stars his adoring wife.
“Back to insomniac mode. Wonder where the holiday went?!? Sitting in the airport lounge in dubai airport enroute to greece pleading with the sleep gods!!” Complained the actor, which is understandable but honestly how bad could a trip to Greece with the one you love really be? Tough it out Abhishek… I’m sure the revenue of the movies will be worth the lack of sleep in the end!
