Today on Twitter Karan Johar posted this photo of Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan with the caption of ‘The Glamorous Couple’. No doubt that the Bollywood filmmaker was just being descriptive of a nice snap shot, but the post made me think of who would be Bollywood’s most “Glamorous Couple”.

It would have to involve a duo who are both involved in the industry, are successful at their craft, and popularity is always a plus; marriage is another point-getter, but not necessary. So what couple would I choose?

One obvious couple would be Shahrukh Khan and wife Gauri! Shahrukh is arguably the biggest name in Bollywood and though his wife is not as well known, Gauri does do a significant amount of work behind the scenes of films.

Then there are the sexy couples like Bipasha Basu and John Abraham, however, John is not match for the likes of SRK, and although Bipasha is amazing in so many ways it is not enough for me to name them most glamorous. One could also argue Katrina Kaif and whoever she is with at the moment, but I think the glamorous couple should be a little more sturdy.

Finally as most might have already guessed, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan would most definitely be my choice. No offense to any of the previously mentioned couples, but these two are not only successful as a couple, but as seperate individuals as well!

During a festival that so many superstars in the movie industry attend like Cannes, it is important to stand out amongst the crowd. On the opening day Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai stole the spotlight, but that is because Deepika Padukone has not yet arrived.

Apparently the actress caught the attention of the festival by sporting a ethnic saree, and has since then been the talk of the event. The actress has gone to Cannes in order to provide some steady competition to the usual Bollywood actress icon Aishwarya, and has decided that her traditional attrire best represents her and her country.

“When I started modelling, I promised myself that whenever I attend an international event, I’d wear a saree and not western clothes. I get enough opportunities at home to wear western clothes. When I’m seen at an international event I’d rather be fully Indian,” explained Deepika. Deepika explained that her first visit to Cannes was as a mere spectator, but has now achieved her goal by making her second visit a matter of business. Congratulations Deepika!

Cannes is host to possibly the greatest film festival in the world, and as such, the festival attracts some of the biggest names in the film industry. Bollywood usually makes their presence felt at the festival and this year was no exception. Of course all the usuals are there, but the beauty of Bollywood decided to show up this year!

Deepika Padukone and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are two of the most beautiful leading ladies in Bollywood at the moment, and also have some of the most experience amongst the rest of the females in the industry. So there are two great representatives for Bollywood to have at Cannes.

The girls got all dolled up and are looking forward to making heads turn with not only their talent, but also their incredible beauty. Aishwarya Rai has made it on time for the opening ceremonies of the festival and boasts about her intentions of seeing the new Ridley Scott movie, ‘Robin Hood’.

Deepika appparently decided to show up a little late being that she just left a few hours ago, but the actress is excited all the same.  ”So…all my bags are packed and I’m ready to GOOOOOOO!……CANNES CALLING guys!” the gorgeous actress tweeted. We all know the duo will impress and be great representatives for Bollywood; hopefully the films will do the same.

Amitabh Bachchan Rejects Filmfare for Aishwarya!

So the big surprise definitely isn’t that Mr. Amitabh Bachchan won Best Actor for the movie “Paa” but the shock hits when the superstar turned down the award. Thats right!! The Big B is so outraged over the horrible rumor about daughter- law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan he didn’t even attend the 55th Filmfare awards, and nor did any of the other members of the Bachan family.

So what exactly is that rumor?? Well the Mumbai Mirror which is the Filmfare’s organizing newspaper posted a rumor implying that Aishwarya has stomach TB  and because of that she is unable to conceive, not to mention that shes aging; and the Bachchan family is demanding an apology.

“I felt that the modesty of a lady in my house has been outraged. The topic that was brought up was very, very insensitive. No woman likes her motherhood or her capability of procreation or fertility to be talked about,” the senior Bachchan said. He further went on to say that “If you read the constitution of India, you will find that in our Article 21 it is clearly mentioned that if you defame any woman and talk about her motherhood, fertility or process of procreation, it is defamatory.”

“I have felt that Aishwarya was slandered by this article and therefore we asked them to apologise, which they didn’t. It is very difficult for me to go to an award function, sing, dance and applaud when that very paper abused a lady of my house, ” said Mr. Bachchan.

Well Kudos to the Big B for laying down the law and hopefully teaching the press a lesson that was very much needed. Now we’ll have to see if and when this apology occurs, the Bachchan family is definitely not the type of people you’d want to keep upset.

Katrina-Aishwarya Comparison

Katrina Kaif and Aishwarya Rai‘s battle for brand endorsement continues… Katrina Kaif has been named the new face of Lux, endorsing Lux Purple Lotus and Cream soap, ousting another Lux girl-Aishwarya Rai. Lux felt that the next generation of women in India prefer to look at Katrina Kaif, as Ash is aging and no longer has a lot of hype around her image.

Comparisons between the two actresses continue as there has been a lot of buzz around the amount of money each actress earns at the box office. Katrina Kaif’s movies have been hits, and Ash no longer carries the same box office potential she used to.

And the Bachchan drama with the Mumbai Mirror escalates…. After the newspaper published false reports that Aishwarya Rai is barren, the Bachchan family has decided to disassociate with the paper completely. Aishwarya Rai canceled a planned appearance at an upcoming award show after learning that the Mumbai Mirror was sponsoring the event. Organizers of the award show offered the actress 85 lakhs to perform, however Aishwarya responded with: “Main nahi nachhongi no matter how strong the lure of lucre.”

The actress, who was actually suffering from stomach TB, is now demanding an apology from the Mumbai Mirror.

After the Mumbai Mirror made false reports that his wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan cannot bear children, Abhishek Bachchan is livid and has renounced the paper. He put on his Twitter status: “Best part of the morning was sitting with the girls, sipping hot coffee and reading the papers. Best part? NO MUMBAI MIRROR!! Realised that we have the ultimate power. The power of choice! I choose NOT to buy or read trash!!!

Big B Somewhat Responds to Article about Aishwarya Rai       

Amitabh Bachchan shares his “deep anguish, pain, and disgust” today with his latest blog in response to a local publication in Mumbai. The article claims that the Bachchan family is becoming impatient with Aishwarya Rai for not producing a family hire by now, and that stomach tuberculosis has further delayed any chance of pregnancy. Amitabh’s response to the article was swift and concise “…not a single portion of this article is true!” He concludes by saying he is prepared to fight “…till my [Amitabh] last breath” for the purpose of protecting his “daughter” (-in-law).

Big B’s conviction makes shady journalism seem pretty apparent, but it’s hard not to wonder if there may be a little truth in the story. Aishwarya is already 37, and the older she gets to more difficult a pregnancy can become. The Bachchan’s can always just steal a page from Angelina Jolie’s book and adopt 2 or 3 kids just in case. And what about these stomach problems for Aishwarya? Are we to believe she’s 100% healthy? Why didn’t Big B address any of that?

This isn’t the first we heard of Aishwarya being sick. Big B posted on his blog Monday how Aishwarya is recovering from a “condition” that kept her from eating, and left her with a fever and soar throat. It seems that maybe a small portion of the article was true Amitabh, and it will be interesting to see what else comes from all of this. I’ll leave you with some words of wisdom for the big man; brief comments and avoiding specific facts will never work out the way you intend. Think about it!

Bollywood Couples

Hollywood has a big trend in naming celeb couples with merged names. If we did that in Bollywood, we would have some really funky sounding names for talked about couples. We took it upon ourselves to come up with some celeb couple names- just for fun:

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor: Saifeena

John Abraham and Bipasha Basu: Jo-Pasha

Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai: Abhiwarya

Hrithik and Suzzane Roshan: Suzik

Arjun Rampal and Mehr Jessia: Merjun

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif: Though the couple is speculated to be broken up, we can still refer to them as Salrina; and since Salman is spending plenty of time with his Veer co-star/Katrina replacement Zarine Khan, we can refer to them as Zarman.

Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone: Yes, they are broken up…. but we can always hope that Ranbika unites again- they look cute together!

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan At Cannes

We are hearing word that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was not too impressed with Sonam Kapoor being invited to Cannes to represent L’Oreal. She made one call and had L’Oreal resind the decision of having Sonam Kapoor come out to share/steal some of the limelight from Ash. Talk about a diva…

Well not to be a jerk, I don’t want to remind Aishwarya the type of movies she releases at Cannes which subsequently dive bombs like her Hollywood career.

Salman Khan was on “On The Couch With Koel” which aired on Jan 23rd on Headlines Today Network and really expressed is true expressions on things. Koel Purie pressed into him for some intimate details about his life and surprisingly he gave up some candid descriptions and answers to the questions that were asked.

On SRK – He said that he will never be friends with Shah Rukh again, but in the future if a project will come up, he will participate and not let the emotions get the best of him. So much for make ups and breakups, one us to wonder what really went down that night at Katrina’s birthday.

On Katrina Kaif - He mentioned that he is very much dating Katrina Kaif and the media has it all wrong, they have no broken up and out of all the people in the world, including his family, nobody understands him better than Katrina… Wow. I wonder what Katrina has to say about that!

On Aishwarya Rai Bachchan - Koel pressed him about his x-gf and his answers made it seem like they will not be falling in love again like the did in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Salman is happy that she is happy and wishes her well but does not plan to ever star in any film with her…

Well good to know… Salman really has not been this open to the media and tends to play with the media but never turning hostile like Big B… lets see if more is revealed about Salman’s turbulent past.

Madhuri Dixit leaves Aishwarya Rai Behind

Madhuri Dixit is back and better then before. She’s so good she recently beat out Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for the spot as a judge on the hit show “Dance Premier League“.

Oh yesss, Bollywood’s original Dancing Queen will soon be seen judging contestants from all over the globe as they try their hardest to swing their hips straight into Madhuri’s heart.

How can we all forget the fire that blazed the screen when both Madhuri and Aishwariya danced side by side in Devdas? Aishwarya may have taken the trophy for stunning looks but Madhuri definitely bagged the dancing aspect hands down.

A spot well deserved and we are more excited than ever to see that gorgeous smile back on the screen!
