Shah Rukh Khan Throws a Huge Bash for R & B Singer Akon

Shah Rukh Khan played host for the popular American singer and songwriter Akon at Mumbai’s JW Marriot Hotel. The duo met in Los Angeles when Shah Rukh brilliantly decided that he wanted to incorporate Akon into his next film Ra 1. Akon will not only be heard in this multi-starrer film, he’s also going to be a part of the cast.

So to celebrate yet another collaboration of Hollywood and Bollywood, Shah Rukh invited Akon out to Mumbai as his personal guest.  And Akon was more then happy to accept the Khan’s invitation as he says “I am a big fan of Shah Rukh’s. I’m very familiar with Shah Rukh’s work”. Akon also mentioned that Indian audiences will definitely be seeing a lot more of him as he is planning a portion of his world tour in India and plans to work closely with a lot more Indian directors.

He feels that Indian and African culture have quite a few similarities. “You know the tradition in Africa is not different from India. There is the same type of entertainment going on, the difference is only in language. I always wanted to expand my horizon, explore and enjoy,” said Akon. Oh and we’re sure he’s enjoying, after he met the gorgeous Kareena Kapoor, whose playing the lead heroine in the film, Akon dedicated two lines of his hit single “Beautiful” to her. Well we really hope that these two huge entertainment industries continue to come together and create magic.

Anyone who follows Shahid Kapoor on Twitter knows that he is not shy about sharing all of his thoughts with his fans and the general public, but it got a little depressing recently. 

Shahid sent out a series of tweets about direction and how he seems to have lost it. That statement is shortly followed by how Shahid thinks “life is easier for people who are less emotional,” but unfortunately he “doesn’t fall into that category.” 

Are you serious Shahid? Is being an actor really that hard? I mean I realize with a few movies in production life can surely get hectic, but do you really want to show the world how defeated you are? 

You call yourself a philosophical Buddha, but lets all be honest you’re just blubbering. Grow up a little Shahid; you really just sound like an adolescent having an identity crisis, which would be cool if you were 12 or 13 entering High School. 

And another thing, direction doesn’t come when it has to, nor does it involve any sort of honest and persistent search. Direction simply involves making a decision about what it is you want to do and doing it. 

So why not stop whimpering, and make a decent movie that’ll win you a Best Actors award instead of just a nomination? After all, it’s what the big boys do.

Here’s a story that has a plot that would seem like it was taken straight from a movie, starring Priety Zinta. The story is related to Bollywood powerhouse- the late Kamaal Amrohi and his property which is worth 600 crore rupees.

Amrohi’s three children are battling over the property- Shandar, one of the children has filed a case against his brother, Wasim, and sister, Rukshar, stating that they have falsely pledged his shares in Mahal Pictures Pvt. Ltd. to a company in Pune. Preity Zinta, who is known as “Shandar’s adopted daughter” has sided with him, and offered to see this case through…. after all, Shandar has announced that he would eventually pass all property on to Preity Zinta.

Shandar claims that this dispute is not over money, but over justice, and Preity Zinta is just helping him fight it, despite strong opposition from other family members.

Karan Johar expressed how impressed he was by the “dignity, poise and graciousness” he observed by watching the Academy Awards.

Maybe he missed the extreme cockiness of actor George Clooney and some mailed in acceptance speeches/performances, but it is always good to point out the bright parts. 

Karan also extended the idea that the Bollywood community should adopt the behavioral practices of their American counterparts; stating that the Oscars should be an “inspiration to our fraternity.”     

Karan also expresses a little bit of disappointment in fact that Avatar was not Best Picture, which went to The Hurt Locker, but does admit that The Hurt Locker is brilliant and deserved the director’s award. 

Maybe Karan should make a move in the Hollywood market and maybe one day he can show his poise and dignity next to a shiny gold statue.

Last week, things turned a little icy when Shah Rukh Khan decided to test the Neil Nitin Mukesh’s patience. At the Filmfare Awards Shah Rukh Khan called Neil who asked why we had 3 surnames but no last name? Neil told Shah Rukh Khan to shut up. The crowd looked out in shock. Bipasha Basu and Katrina Kaif after the show rushed to Neil and told him to apologize. I mean who would have the balls to tell Shah Rukh Khan to shut up.

Talk about awkward…

Well relax people it was a stunt that was planned by Neil Nithin Mukesh and SRK to shock the audience.

To rewind a bit: At the Filmfare awards, co-hosts Shah Rukh and Saif Ali Khan decided to take on Neil on stage, riling him endlessly. The final straw was the digs that Shah Rukh took at Neil’s name.

“Neil,” said Shah Rukh, “Why do you have three first names and no surname? My name is Khan. Saif too is a Khan. How come you have no last name?”

Neil couldn’t take the slight to his family name. He not-so-gently reminded Shah Rukh that he ought to restrain himself because his, Neil’s, father was sitting in the audience. And then, horror of horrors, he told Shah Rukh to just shut up. There was an uncomfortable silence in the auditorium.

Recalling the incident with an uncomfortable laugh, Neil said: “I’m still shaking. Imagine me telling Shah Rukh Khan to shut up! But I did. That isn’t all. At the end of the show I walked up to Shah Rukh and Saif and broke eggs on their heads.” But relax. It was all part of an act.

“It was all planned by Shah Rukh sir. I was told by the organisers, the Moranis, from beforehand that I was supposed to be part of Shah Rukh’s act. I was supposed to reach early and rehearse for it. But as luck would have it I had gone to town to pick up my parents and got stuck in the traffic. By the time I reached the venue there was only time for a quick briefing on what I had to do.”

Shah Rukh walked up to Neil and quickly told him the plan on stage. Check out the video and watch this crazy scene..

The dusky damsel from the Oscar winning movie Slumdog Millionaire Frieda Pinto is in the news again. This time making headlines as the next possible… drum roll please…Bond Girl!!

The makers of the reputed James Bond movies have shortlisted Freida at the top of the list of actresses that will be tried for the coveted part. Now what was Freida’s reaction to this honor?? Well a bit surprising we must say.

The model-turned-actress feels she is too young to be a Bond girl. She has said: “There’s not much of a role, though some of them have become iconic. And you need somebody mature and more pretty than me.” Regardless, we are very proud of this Indian beauty for making it this far in such a short amount of time. Here’s hoping we’ll see Freida bag the role and take Indian talent to even bigger heights.

Akshay Kumar Handcuffed for Hours?!

Bollywood Superstar Akshay Kumar has been known for his crazy stunts and gimmicks throughout his entertainment career, but nothing had him prepared for this . In Farah Khan’s anticipated blockbuster film “Tees Maar Khan” Akshay had a scene where he needed to be handcuffed for a short while, little did he know that this small scene would turn into a long painful wait.

While locking the handcuffs a member of the production team accidentally broke the key and didn’t realize the spare wasn’t at the film shooting. A frantic Farah summoned a locksmith who tried his best to get the Bollywood heart throb out of the cuffs but failed because they were imported and had a different locking mechanism.

She had no other choice but to send a team member out to get a spare while Akshay Kumar waited for over four hours. Sources state that Akshay remained calm and collective throughout the entire ordeal. Kudos to Akshay!! We can just imagine if the great Salman Khan was put into the same situation…no no we’re not labeling, judging, finger pointing…not at all!

Rahul Mahajan's Swayamvar comes to an Epic End!

Politician and reality star Rahul Mahajan’s epic journey came to an end with a surprise that took everyone by shock. Rahul finally chose his lucky bride to be, the beautiful Bengali model Dimpy Ganguly.

Now that wasn’t the big surprise. What shocked everyone is that Rahul and Dimpy proved that the reality show wasn’t just for entertainment purposes, they actually fell in love and ended the show with a ‘Shubh Vivah‘!!!

Rahul age 34 married Dimpy age 21 on the show as India watched on. Oh yes and India did watch on, as many Indians were skeptical that the show much like Rakhi’s Swayamvar would end in dismay. Rahul & Dimpy are now looking forward to spending their honeymoon in Maldives once Rahul’s drug abuse case finally reaches its verdict. Here’s hoping this is one reality show wedding comes to a happy end.

The newest couple in Bollywood is Sonam Kapoor and Punit Malhotra, who is the director of her upcoming film “I Hate Luv Stories.” The two have been inseparable while shooting the movie in New Zealand. Sources close to the couple say that “”Punit was constantly taking Sonam’s photos and telling her how gorgeous she looked. Whenever they weren’t shooting, the two would go out and try new places for dinner. In fact, Sonam even told her sister Rhea about Punit.”

Their time together has also been an issue for the director, professionally. Karan Johar, who is producing the film had a talk with Punit Malhotra and advised him to concentrate more on the film.

Salman Khan Smoking

Salman Khan has been advised to stop smoking after being hospitalized for smoke congestion. The actor was on the set of his upcoming film Dabanng, when a fire on set caused him pain and discomfort. He was then rushed to a hospital in Wai, Maharastra. Doctors say the incident could have been avoided if Salman Khan didn’t smoke so much.

Salman Khan has tried and failed to quit cigarettes in the past. Let’s see if his attempt to quit works this time…. maybe he should try a patch or gum.
